Herbal Medicines of the 1800's: America 250 In-Person

Medicine underwent a transition from local, herbalist and healers to an increase in hospitals and centralized facilities in the 1800s.  Ginger Grill will focus on work of Catherine Church from Salem who was an herbalist in the program that reviews some of the many schools of medicine and their disciplines at that time. Hear about basic premises and how botanicals were used to promote heating. Patrons will also see illustrations from Materia Medica, the ultimate pharmacology resource of its time.
